About Us

The Dudley General Branch of UNISON was formed in 1995 from the merger of the former Dudley Branches of NALGO and NUPE.

It has over 3000 employed members of whom approximately 75% are women. In addition to this number the branch has over 600 Retired members who are very active and hold regular monthly meetings and also go on some very interesting trips and outings.

The majority of the Branch's members are employed by Dudley Metropolitan Borough Council and covers all grades of white and blue collar staff, except for teachers.

The Branch also represents members employed in Dudley College, Stourbridge College, Halesowen College, King Edward VI College and many other smaller companies and voluntary organisations in the Dudley Borough.

We negotiate for better pay and conditions, help individuals in trouble  and campaign for a safer, fairer society.

Our Mission:

To promote a democratic and member led Union. We seek to ensure the fair and equal treatment of all members by protecting and improving their terms and conditions of employment. The Branch Office will respond to a members' initial enquiry within 2 working days.

There are three members of staff employed by the branch and two elected Branch Secretaries. A list of our current branch officers, including Branch Secretaries, can be found here.

The Branch has around forty workplace representatives who are elected annually by our members. A list of our current workplace reps can be found here.
