It is with deepest regret that we have to inform you of the death of our Assistant Branch Secretary Joanne Prescott. Joanne passed away after a short illness which she endured with great courage and cheerfulness.
Joanne was a great servant to the branch and its members, serving as Branch Secretary, Assistant Branch Secretary and Workplace Rep. Members who found themselves in difficulty could be assured of a sympathetic ear and first-rate representation from Joanne.
She also made an impact outside of the branch, her first speech to Unison’s conference, on the Windrush generation drew an enthusiastic response.
Jo was proud of her Jamaican heritage and those who worked with her will remember the Jamaican dishes she would bring into the office, in particular her mouth-watering cakes.
She will be greatly missed and if our loss is so great, how much greater is that of her family and many friends
